Oprah Winfrey sold her New York City penthouse for $7.9 million in less than a week, with buyers starting to line up as soon as the property hit the market on Feb. 22, according to media reports.

A British financier, whose name has not been disclosed, made an offer right away and will close on the penthouse next month.

Oprah Winfrey purchased the penthouse in 2008 for $7.1 million in the name of her late Cocker spaniel.

That’s not necessarily a huge profit for someone of Oprah’s stature (though us regular folk will take it), but the real estate market is in the midst of a downturn after all.

Oprah’s Winfrey penthouse is a three-bedroom, three and a half bath spread is the crown jewel of the posh Midtown tower Place 57. Located on the 36th floor, it features 2,530 square feet of wall-to-ceiling windowed space including a 768-square-foot terrace, a triangle-shaped living room and sleek modern kitchen and dining area. The master bedroom has not one but three—count ’em, three—walk-in closets while the bathroom sports a jetted tub.

Oprah’s  place  has high wall-to-ceiling window space  with a breath taking view of Manhattan. All this for a big price of $29,115 a month, 30 year mortgage.
